How to Tell If A Used Car Has Been In an Accident
June 25, 2008
When in the used car market there are many people trying to sell bad cars to good people. They might be a used car dealership, or just someone trying to get rid of their present car. I know that in a perfect world we would all buy new cars, but this just isn’t feasible for most of us. So we must be careful when we are preparing to buy that next used car. You most definitely don’t want to get a lemon.
I can remember the first time I saw a car driving down the road and it was pointed one way, but going another. I was a little boy and I thought what is wrong with that car? My father went on to explain how the frame had been damaged, and that the car was dangerous to drive.
In this case it is quite easy to see that the car is not functioning properly and will cost you a bunch of money in the future. But some cars that are lemons are not that easy to spot. How do you know that you are getting a good deal?
The first place that I always look is the title of the car. If the title isn’t clean then the seller will be hesitant to show it to you. If he does show it to you and everything appears clean but you still aren’t sure about that car, then follow these suggestions and see what you can do.
The most obvious signs of a repair on a car are the light covers. I have seen this a million times! If there is paint on the taillight cover then the car has been in some kind of accident for sure. How do I know? Because they had to repaint that piece of the car, and some of it got on the taillight. This might not be a big deal but if the seller won’t admit to a “small” fender bender then he might be hiding a much bigger accident and much more serious damage to the car.
Another place to look is the lines where two parts of the car come together. For example, you would want to check the crack between the front fender and the hood. If one end of that line is close together and the other end is far apart then you know something is not lining up right. Something has probably been changed and isn’t fitting like the original.
In all your investigating don’t forget to do the obvious and ask the owner about the car. Many times people selling the car are very honest and will tell you every detail. Remember that you are in control and they have to answer all of your questions. Many times you can tell if they are hiding something by asking some simple questions. If they are hesitant and a little shaky, then walk away. There is a better car just down the road with a seller that will tell you everything that you want to know.
Just a few months ago I was looking at a used car. Yep, our family is expanding and we needed an SUV. As I looked over the car I noticed that it hadn’t been take care of very well. Then I spotted the paint on the taillight. I causally asked the seller if the car had been in any kind of accident and he stated, “oh sure, just the normal fender bender a couple of times”. I almost walked away right then! Why didn’t he walk me over to that fender and say, “A few months ago we got hit here in a parking lot, and had to have this fender replaced”? Because he didn’t want to tell me what really happened. Needless to say, I walked away and didn’t buy that car.
Buying a used car can be a fun experience. Even though it is not new, it is still a new car to you! But you do need to take some precautions and make sure that you get a good deal on your car. There is nothing worse then owning a car for a few months and then finding out there are serious problems. Do you homework and have fun!
Buying Used Motorcycles In Florida - Points To Consider
June 25, 2008
When it comes to buying a used motorcycle it is important that you as the buyer keep in mind a number of factors before you hand over any of your hard earned cash. Below the factors we list are ones that you should keep in mind whether you are buying used motorcycles in Florida or any where else for that matter.
Actually determining the value of a used motorcycle when looking to buy one can be very challenging indeed. With a used one, there are many different variables, which a person will need to factor in which will actually determine the value of the machine that they are considering purchasing. Below we list what these variables are.
1. Make, Model and Year Produced - Most motorcycles as they grow older will become less valuable however, there are exceptions to the rules. For example any kind of specialty motorcycle such as custom you will find that the value of this machine actually increases over time.
2. Style & Type Of Motorcycle - As well as the bikes age affecting the value of motorcycle the kind of motorcycle it is does as well. Often you will find those companies which only produce a number of motorcycles each year such as Ducati often command a much higher price than those that are produced by the big 4 Japanese motorcycle manufacturers.
3. The Size of The Engine - This really does matter as the bigger the engine then you will find that they command a much higher price. In addition, you need to factor in the cost of insuring this machine as generally this will be much higher as well.
4. Motorcycles Mileage - Compared to other vehicles when a motorcycle comes with high mileage this is not a major issue as the designers and manufacturers who produce these machines, provide them with engines that are built to last. But it is still important that you ask the seller for proof that the motorcycle has been well cared for and regularly serviced. If they can provide copies of the bikes service history this is perfect.
5. Physical Condition - As a bike gets older then you are going to expect it to get a few knocks and scrapes over time. A quick look at the motorcycle will usually tell you just how well cared for the bike has been or not. However if you are not sure what you should be looking for then take someone along who does. If you can afford to take a long an experienced mechanic who will quickly be able to spot any potential problems with the machine before you part with any of your money.
It is vital that if you are seriously considering buying any used motorcycles in Florida or elsewhere that you research the potential purchase as much before hand. If you keep the pointers we mention above in mind this should hopefully help you to make a more informed decision which could end up saving you a lot of time and money.

Is Biodiesel a Better Choice?
June 24, 2008
Let’s face it. Many of us are feeling the pain of the forever rising cost of high gas prices. It has made people realize that they have to make a difference as nobody is going to help them tackle this problem except for themselves. The problem? Not many people know how to minimize their gasoline usage.
Most people don’t know this yet but there are alternatives to gasoline. An example of an alternative is biodiesel. Biodiesel is one of an alternative that has gained popularity since the gas price hike.
So What is Biodiesel?
Biodiesel is all natural. What do I mean by that? Well, biodiesel is made from ingredients that are safe, renewable and clean. Biodiesel can be made on a large scale and also made at a small scale at the comfort of your own home.
How is Biodiesel Created?
The main ingredients are alcohol, lye and water. They are then mixed together and allowed to settle and then the biodiesel is separated from the bi-product, glycerin, and can be used in any diesel running engine.
Better Than Gasoline?
There are many reasons why biodiesel is better than gasoline. Here are the main reasons why biodiesel is the answer to high gas prices:
-It can be made by you at home. It is not a complicated process and something that is very safe to do at home.
-It is safe. Biodiesel is non toxic and does not catch on fire or explode like gasoline.
-Environment friendly. Biodiesel is much cleaner than gasoline as it does not have harmful bi-products. The bi-product in biodiesel, glycerin is also used in soap!
-Cheaper. I bet you already know this. Just imagine how much you can save just by making your own fuel.
-The ingredients that make biodiesel are renewable and thus it will never run out.
What’s stopping you from saving money and the environment? These are all the information you need to know about biodiesel. If you need more help, a quick search will give you a vast amount of information on how to make biodiesel and how to use it in your vehicle.
How To Use Water As Alternative Fuels For Trucks and Cars
June 24, 2008
Mother earth is getting hotter and hotter because of the carbon emission from cars and trucks. Carbon dioxide emissions results from consumption of fossil fuels. It is necessary to find alternative fuel to control global warming and green house impact. If you use water to gas technology, you will get improved mileage and you may also get alternative fuel vehicle tax incentive.
Big oil companies have an undeniable influence in world economics and politics, it may be difficult to do something concrete about lowering our carbon emission levels as well as finding good sources of alternative fuel.
Recently using water along with gasoline in the car got popularity due to high cost of gasoline . Like any new concept, there are enough controversies to run car on water. There are several successful cases of using hydrogen gas conversion kit in car in USA, UK & Australia. Success of these people confirmed that you could run your vehicle with plain tap water. If you use water as alternative fuel for your car, you will increase your car mileage, reduce engine temperature and carbon emission.
What is water for gas technology?
You need to install an inexpensive device in your cars’ engine that will allow the electricity generated by the batteries to burn water and release the hydrogen component of water.
Hydrogen is a very powerful gas. When a quart of water is electrolyzed to release the hydrogen and make it turn into a gas that can be used as an alternative fuel. The end product is called HHO or Brown’s Gas. The kit is called hydrogen conversion kit. HHO as an alternative fuel is also clean and safe.
How to run car with water?
There are several guides are available on how to build hho gas concert kit using simple water. Some of them are very costly and some of them are cheap. You can also buy readily available hydrogen gas conversion kit or you can assemble one on your own. I do recommend you to follow some affordable and reliable book, which has a good support network. Avoid free resources because you won’t get any help.
I used run car with water and below you will find some recommendation
Camper Van Extras
June 23, 2008
Many people who want to invest their money in a camper van lack information about what the facilities of such a recreational vehicle could contain. Let’s start by mentioning that the looks of a camper van very much depend on your budget. Styling is often superficial and not directly related to how the camper van can serve your needs. There are standard facilities included by the manufacturer in the original design, but there are also additional options you may choose from, and that can boost the price up quite a lot.
When choosing a RV to rent or buy, its a good idea to consider the size of the camper or motorhome with regards to the size of your family. Young children take up a lot less space than a few teenagers. Size is just one of several factors to take into account as well as whether you wish to hire or purchase a relatively new or used vehicle.
My intention is to show you some of the available options for new camper vans, which will equally enable you to know what to expect from a well-kept second hand one. Whether you choose minimum conversion models or completely self-contained, keep in mind that you can always improve something later, should it be the case.
Campers often have plenty of seating, some for up to eight people, but may only sleep four or five at the most. This is often made up of two adults and two children or sometimes three young children. A camper should be spacious enough in the day time so as to allow ease of movement for all the family. At night, space is often at a premium due to the nature of bed arrangements. Generally even the cheapest will have some daytime space, the expense is often down to how much space is required at night. Try to find the right mix for your budget.
After deciding on the space required during the day and night, there are a few other options you may wish to consider. In the kitchen and living areas you could have a microwave, an oven, gas rings, an air con unit or even a widescreen television complete with sound system. This is where you could really blow your budget and I guess comes down to how much of your time you intend to stay in the van. The upholstery and furnishings can all be upgraded or even customized to your exact specification. One thing that is becoming more popular is the use of solar panels to drive some of the campers electricals.
A comfortable drivers seat is a must for those long journeys and many prefer the feel of a quality leather seat. Storage is at a premium on most campers and that is why you will find many extra storage options. Some of the larger ones even have a cooler for drinks with drain holes in case of spillage. Some vans offer small compartments in the floor that are ideal for smaller item storage.
Motorhomes and camper vans with simple designs allow you to concentrate on what many owners feel is the most important consideration, that of space. A great exterior will never make up for poor interior planning. Older vans rarely have the flushing toilets and shower facilities you find on the latest models. So you may wish to consider the cost of upgrading a used model to include these essentials. Do not though fill up your recently acquired camper or motorhome with so many extras, that you have no space left for comfortable movement inside.
Womens Motorcycle Helmets - Stylish and Safe
June 23, 2008
In the world of motorcycle helmets, women’s helmets have always been more style conscientious than their male counterparts. While colors such as pink and purple are often found in women’s motorcycle helmets, they are rarely seen in a man’s helmet. In fact, a woman’s helmet tends toward being designed as a trend proclamation more than that of a man’s helmet.
There is a possible hazard with women’s motorcycle helmets because safety, not fashion, should be the prime concern for buyers of motorcycle helmets. While manufacturers often rely on sex appeal for their designs, that should be a minor detail on the consumer’s side when purchasing a helmet.
Manufacturers of women’s motorcycle helmets have made it simple to know the distinction between women’s and men’s helmets. Not only are the colors and styles suited to each gender, but the sizing of a man’s and woman’s helmet is different. A woman’s motorcycle helmet is sized smaller that a man’s although the helmets may fall in the same general size classification.
Since more and more women over the last three decades have been riding motorcycles, women’s motorcycle helmets come in so many styles. A woman who wants a trendy and safe helmet need not sacrifice one for the other - she can get both in one helmet. An excellent example of a woman’s motorcycle helmet that is both stylish and functional is the Icon Racing’s “Hooligan Gloss Helmet.” Although the name does not denote femininity, the helmet is shaped unmistakably for a woman and is available in a pink-purple hue. At the same time, this helmet has all the necessary safety features. It meets all the standards set by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Snell; it is made of a fiberglass shell; the dual-density styrene liner in the helmet reduces the risk of head trauma. This helmet is truly both beautiful and functional.
Because riding motorcycles is still perceived to be primarily a man’s activity, men tend to be more experienced and knowledgeable than women in purchasing helmets. Before shopping for women’s motorcycle helmets, a first-time buyer should learn about the wide variety of women’s helmets that are in the market. She should get a basic knowledge of DOT and Snell safety standards for helmets. She should understand the importance of proper fit as a factor in determining the level of protection a helmet can provide. She should also be knowledgeable about the trade-offs in a woman’s motorcycle helmet - those pertaining to safety, comfort, heat-flow, ventilation and other factors in rider’s comfort. Since the female face is generally more delicate than a man’s, women tend to buy helmets that maximize facial protection.
Saving Gas And Saving Money
June 23, 2008
Nobody can have failed to notice the incredible rise in the price of gas in recent months. This has come after years of slowly increasing prices and we are now at a point where everybody is feeling the pinch. The rise may mean you are driving a bit less or perhaps it means you have cut back on your spending. Few people are able to just ignore it.
So what can we do about it? We have no control over the price of oil so all we can do is to try to use less of it and get the best value from the gas we buy. There are several ways we can approach this. We can drive less, we can make our cars more economical with the gas they use, we can drive in a more economical way and use less gas while we do the same journey.
The first choice is the simplest. You just have to use your car less often. You can do this by combining trips and instead of driving to a different store each time you go out, go to all of them in one round trip. Go shopping every other day instead of every day. Travel with your neighbors and that way you both can save on gas.
If you brake heavily and accelerate fast you will use up a lot of gas. It uses a lot less gas if you can accelerate more gently and brake less heavily. You need to be looking ahead and being aware of what the traffic is doing. If the traffic ahead of you is braking then ease off the gas pedal early and slow gently. When you accelerate press lightly on the gas pedal and accelerate smoothly. You will be surprised how much gas this method of driving can save you.
We can also be more economical by driving smaller and more efficient cars, we can keep our cars serviced more often so they run at optimum efficiency. Another possibility is to fit some gas saving or energy efficient devices to help our cars use less gas.
We have all heard of magic pills that you add to your fuel tank which can make your car run much better. Some of these devices have been tested in the past but often the testing was carried out by people who wanted to prove they didn’t work. Vested interests may have meant that the testing was not always as genuine as it could be.
I have not tried many of these but anything you have to keep buying to add to your gas will make the economics of any savings less likely but take a look at them and see for yourself. With gas prices so high now anything that saves gas may make a lot more sense than it did a few years ago.
The scientists are saying that we will all be using hydrogen for our gas supplies in years to come but that seems to be a way off yet. There are not many hydrogen gas stations and there are only a handful of hydrogen cars running around on our roads as test vehicles. We are an inventive nation and there are lots of people who have been working on this problem in their garages and workshops and they have developed ways to generate hydrogen and use it to save on gas costs in the cars we already have and drive every day.
Enthusiasts working away in their garages and workshops have come up with systems that are easily built from regular parts available at local hardware stores and can be put together in a few hours. They explain how to build these kits and fit them to your car and you could be reducing your gas usage in next to no time all thanks to a simple guide you can get online.
Womens Motorcycle Helmets - Women on Bikes
June 22, 2008
Pink and purple fashionable helmets have entered the motorcycling scene - women’s motorcycle helmets. The color and design of these helmets stand far apart from men’s helmets, and they are far more fashion oriented than the masculine helmets.
There is a possible hazard with women’s motorcycle helmets because safety, not fashion, should be the prime concern for buyers of motorcycle helmets. While manufacturers often rely on sex appeal for their designs, that should be a minor detail on the consumer’s side when purchasing a helmet.

Not only are the colors and styles suited to each gender, but the sizing of a man’s and woman’s helmet is different. A woman’s motorcycle helmet is sized smaller that a man’s although the helmets may fall in the same general size classification.
In the last thirty years women haven taken to riding motorcycles in huge numbers compared to that of decades past; because of this, women’s motorcycle helmets have become greatly accessible in a plethora of styles. Just because a woman wants to be fashionable is no reason for her to reduce her standards for the safety of the helmet. There are a number of women’s motorcycle helmets on the market now that entail both safety and style. “Hooligan Glass Helmet” by Icon Racing is a terrific example of a helmet that is stylish but also meets Snell and the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) standards. Not to be judged by its masculine name this helmet comes in a uniquely feminine shape as well as colors such as a pink and purple hue that is typical of women’s items. Not only does this helmet come in a decidedly feminine style it also runs the gamut of safety features. Head injuries are minimized because of the use of a fiberglass shell with a dual-density styrene liner. It’s a terrific example of a women’s helmet that encompasses beauty as well as function.
Because riding motorcycles is still perceived to be primarily a man’s activity, men tend to be more experienced and knowledgeable than women in purchasing helmets. Buy Used Motorcycles On eBay - Factors To Consider
June 22, 2008
A person who wishes to buy a used motorcycle has a number of different option open to them today. They can either buy it from someone privately who has advertised in a newspaper or magazine. They could go to their local motorcycle dealer who will often have a large number available as many people will trade in their current bikes for a much newer model. Whilst the other option that is open to them is to buy it through an online auction site and in this article we will take a look at how to buy used motorcycles on the eBay auction site.
In fact in recent months eBay has seen an increase in the number of used motorcycles being placed up for sale, simply because many owners are coming realize that they will actually get a much better price for their machine than if they sell it locally only. Sometimes people are willing to travel hundreds of miles simply because they have found the bike that they have been looking for.
For anyone who is considering buying themselves a motorcycle from an auction such as an eBay then there are certain things that they need to take into consideration before they start bidding. Below we take a look at just what some of these factors are.
Tip 1 - It is important that you read through the description that the seller has provided thoroughly. It is the description, which provides the seller with his main opportunity for telling potential buyers everything that they need to know about the motorcycle that is for sale. If whilst reading through the description you find you have a question, which cannot be answered by this then, contact the seller immediately.
Tip 2 - Sometimes you will find that the seller has included photographs of the bike for sale on their auction site listing. But these are usually very basic ones and if you can arrange for them to forward more detailed photographs relating to the tires, engine and wheels etc. Also if you can ask them if they can provide you with copies of any documentation relating to the machine especially in relationship to the who owns the motorcycle for sale. Many should be able to easily do this by scanning the details on to their PC and then forwarding them to you in an email.
Tip 3- It is vitally important that you read through any feedback that has been posted against the seller and see what kind of rating they have achieved. Doing this not only will you be able to quickly see whether they have sold used motorcycles on an auction site before but it makes you feel a little more secure if they have built up a good set of feedbacks.
Tip 4 - If you find yourself in a situation where you are having difficulty making contact with the seller of the item that you are interested in bidding on or which you have already bid on them immediately contact eBay. Today eBay have a system in place to prevent fraudulent use by others of their auction site and if at any stage a person has difficult in making contact with the seller and they have already bid on an item they have the right then to retract that bid. Not only does this mean that the chances of you being scammed are greatly reduced but it now puts the onus on the seller to be responsible for their listing.
Therefore keeping the above points in mind will help you when it comes to buying used motorcycles on eBay. Not only will it save you time and money but also a lot of stress and heartache as well.
